Solidarity statements for the Sussex Five

Five Sussex Students have been suspended indefinitely for taking part in protests against the privatisation of the university and in support of the recent staff strike for fair and equal pay. Please add my name to the list of supporters. Thanks

  2. Dominic Guzman says:

On their way into the Bramber House conference centre lastt week, the gang of thugs involved violently assaulted the conference manager, *bit* him and threw him down the concrete steps.

The above mentioned people apparently condone such actions, to their disgrace.

  3. Maureen S. says:

As an alumna of Sussex (Euro 1091), former member of the Student Union, Union Returning Officer as well as student protestor and occasional occupier (of the Admin Building in those days!) I was delighted when, four years ago, my daughter chose to pursue her undergraduate – and now postgraduate – studies at Sussex and have been tremendously proud of her and all those students who occupied the Conference Centre last year, have been active in the Anti-Privatisation Campaign, have stood on picket lines in support of the recent strike and have recently re-occupied Bramber House.
Sussex has a long and proud tradition of student activism and I am shocked and deeply saddened at management’s decision to suspend these five students. Privatisation and the commodification and middle classification of education are anathema to all that Sussex has ever stood for. I applaud all the students who are fighting for something bigger than themselves and for the integrity of the whole university community. I salute you all. Solidarity with the Sussex Five! Shame on the university management!
